Because the path is not general, otherwise everyone would be on it? Why is it hidden then? Because everyone is free to make the choice at some point, and begin the molting stages necessary for transformation. This, you guessed it, is then a process having its roots in the earth. Spiritual vision reveals the human being must redeem past sins, and old karma. No one can avoid this, and it is because of this that a spiritual teacher - if you are lucky enough to have found one - will appreciated for all his wisdom helps you dispel darkness, and help you transform your lower nature until you can receive your higher attributes.
