A student asked the Teacher Tazo, why should I study Manes? When everyone says Manes sounds like Zoroaster, Buddha and others; Manes just duplicated everything before him? Isn't that true?
Teacher Tazo: Yes, exactly, Zarathustra also sounds like others, and so does the Teacher Tazo. That is a riddle. Can you solve the riddle?
Pause....
Here is something to help you solve the riddle:
I find it curious, and ask you , why would a person use another persons ideas to express what are their own? I am sure the work of Manes appears as Zoroastrian - no doubt - but that is not the person. A person may have similar clothes, but still the person is not made by clothes, he is known by his essence. Other people may think one's thoughts, and still take responsibility for what they say. My music, when it is played by others, is expressed thus: Andre Previn perfoms Tazo. Now, why would Mani choose to be Zoroaster when it is truly impossible? The answer is simple, he wouldn't, for if what Zoroaster said was true, then he should not change it, or people would say, Look there, Mani thinks he will change the great truths that we know are true. It is also true as it is truth, not because Zoroaster or Mani says so, but because whatever is true, it is also true as itself. Therefore Truth is not owned by any man but is temporarily expressed in him, or anyone. A truth is beyond a person, or even a creature, for even a creature can express truth. But does a creature know it is true? No, it doesn't. Truth is therefore known by anyone that has the sense in him for the truth -and when ones eyes sense truth, then truth is sensed everywhere, and at the same time unknown.
